Where did you get married and why did you choose this place?

We got married in Antibes, starting with a civil ceremony at the Mairie, followed by an intimate lunch at Villa Gateau Blanc on the Friday. Then on the Saturday, a beach ceremony and celebration. Antibes holds a special place in our hearts because François is originally from there, and I have been visiting the region at least once a year, even before meeting him.

We also wanted something different for the location—something that felt unique and out of the ordinary for a wedding. Combining the charm of an art deco-style villa, the intimacy of a beach ceremony, and the relaxed yet elegant atmosphere allowed us to create a celebration that was truly reflective of who we are as a couple. It was a way to break away from the traditional wedding settings and do something meaningful and memorable.

Do you have an engagement story?

I’ll admit, I was starting to get a bit impatient. As beach lovers who wanted something extremely intimate, François planned the most magical surprise: a weekend getaway to an island near the Seychelles called Desroches. It’s a secluded paradise with only one hotel and a few villas, so it couldn’t have been more private or “us.”

François proposed right by the sea during sunset—my absolute favorite time of day. It was such an emotional moment, complete with a heartfelt speech. This place and that memory hold such a special space in my heart. We are actually still in touch with the incredible people who helped him organize the proposal—they made it even more unforgettable.

How was your experience dress shopping and how was it specifically at Ginger & Poppy?

Shopping for dresses in Dubai can be quite complicated, especially when you have a preference for European styles, which I thought I wanted but didn’t end up choosing in the end! Dress shopping was truly a journey of discovery and excitement. Ginger & Poppy Bridal made the experience incredibly special. Their team provided such personalized attention and care, ensuring that I found a dress that felt like "me" and fit perfectly into the aesthetic of our wedding day. The process was both fun and emotional, and they really understood my vision and brought it to life.

How did you know when you found the dress?

I was with my best friend and his partner, and we were browsing dresses together. Everyone had to pick one for me to try, and the partner of my best friend chose a dress that I immediately said, “No way, I’m not trying that—it’s absolutely not me.” But somehow, I ended up trying it on, and the effect was instant: WOW. It was actually me.

First, I felt so comfortable in it, even though it looked a bit fluffy—it was surprisingly light. After trying on lots of other dresses, I put that one back on, and this time, we all laughed and cried at the same time. It was the one.

I’m usually someone who is extremely indecisive and constantly changes my mind in my personal life, but this time, it was a straight choice. I just knew. It was such a special moment that I’ll never forget!

What is your most treasured/memorable moment from the wedding?

On the Friday, entering the town hall was actually very very special. I thought this moment will be more about administration than feeling but it was actually the opposite – we felt very very emotional because we were only with close friends & family. After exiting the townhall we’ve been for a ride just the 2 of us followed by my best friend and his partner and it was such a unique moment that yes I will cherish forever. One of the most memorable moments was the beach ceremony. Seeing our closest friends and family gathered together in such a breathtaking setting, celebrating our love, was truly magical. The warmth, laughter, and emotions shared that day was a very special feeling.

What advice would you give to future brides?

Take time to savor the little moments - your probably heard it already but it is true: The day goes by so quickly, and it’s easy to get caught up in the details. Surround yourself with people who support you, trust your instincts, and remember that the most important part of the day is the love and commitment you’re celebrating. And don’t forget to create moments of joy for yourself during the planning process—it’s part of the journey!
